About the Position:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' (USACE) New England District is responsible for managing the Corps'' civil works and military program responsibilities in a 66,000-square mile region encompassing the six New England states east of the Lake Champlain drainage basin. The region has: 6,100 miles of coastline, 171 harbors with Corps improvements, 13 deep draft commercial waterways, 13 major river basins, and thousands of miles of rivers and streams. The District employs over 500 professional civilian employees, with several military officers serving in key management positions. Seventy-five percent of the staff is stationed at the Concord, Massachusetts headquarters, while others serve at Corps project and area offices throughout the New England region.
NOTE: This vacancy has a total of 6 vacancies in the following locations: 2 for Ball Mountain Lake, Jamaica, Vermont; 2 for Otter Brook Lake, Keene, New Hampshire; 2 for North Hartland Lake, Hartland Vermont.
Ball Mountain Lake located in the towns of Jamaica, Londonderry and Townshend, VT which have a combined population of 3,986 and primarily rural. Jamaica has a general store, coffee house, restaurants, as well as Jamaica State Park. These areas host summer activities and events at three local ski resorts.
Otter Brook Lake located in southwestern NH, in and near the city of Keene. Keene has a population of 23,409 and is the site of Keene State College. The surrounding area offers many outdoor recreational activities.
North Hartland Lake in Hartland, VT 6 miles south of White River Junction, VT and about 10 miles from Lebanon, NH. All amenities can be found in either town, including multiple restaurants, movie theaters, an art gallery and hospitals.Offers a swimming beach, walking trails, covered picnic shelters, picnic tables and grills, volleyball net and playground equipment.

Perform general manual laboring tasks at a dam and/or reservoir. Work is unskilled in nature and often includes heavy lifting and arduous tasks where use of a variety of hand tools is necessary. Assists in some incidental trades and craft operations where additional reliance may be placed upon mental rather than physical efforts.
Laborer has the ability to operate, control, and clean a variety of light duty equipment and hand tools (e.g. power mower, weed trimmers, drill). The nature of the duties and the kind of equipment require continued care and attention to avoid accidents, care for the equipment, and to do the work properly. The work requires the ability to remember a number of steps and sequences in performing the tasks. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and valid operator''s license is required.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. Physical effort: The laborer exerts heavy physical effort in doing such tasks as lifting and moving heavy objects weighing over 50 pounds, running power mowers on grades, and pushing heavy loads on a wheelbarrow.
Working Conditions: The incumbent works usually outsides and is subjected to all kinds of weather. Incumbent may be required to work on or near the water where immersion is possible. Incumbent works around and with moving equipment and is subject to noise and some fumes. The equipment, tools, and tasks involved at this level frequently require special care to avoid serious injuries.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
